DR. SADAF "SABRINA" WAQAR DO, FAAD

Dermatologist

Dr. Waqar opened Farmington Valley Dermatology in 2014 to meet the demand for dermatology in the Farmington Valley – Greater Hartford area. She previously worked since late 2012 at the Massachusetts and Rhode Island offices of an independent dermatology practice. She started her dermatology career in 2011 at a large regional multi-specialty group in Worcester, MA. She relocated to Massachusetts after completing a six-year dual internal medicine/dermatology residency in south Florida in 2011.

Dr. Waqar has a special interest in dermatopathology; managing cutaneous lymphomas and autoimmune skin diseases; skin cancer surgery. During residency, she studied complex autoimmune connective tissue diseases and autoimmune blistering diseases under Dr. Francisco Kerdel, MD (University of Miami, FL); cutaneous T-cell lymphoma under the late Dr. Marie-France Demierre, MD (Boston University, MA); dermatopathology of melanoma at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (NYC).

Dr. Waqar is Board Certified in Dermatology and Internal Medicine. She is a Fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology and the American Osteopathic College of Dermatology. She is a member of the American Society of Dermatologic Surgeons, the Women’s Dermatologic Society, and the Connecticut Dermatology & Dermatologic Surgery Society.

When Dr. Waqar is not working she’s spending much treasured time with her family. She loves to explore scenic drives through New England rural areas, farms, as well as quaint towns.

As a newer mother, her next ambition is to get her family involved in seasonal activities and to develop a love for New England history.

LISA SHEEHAN, PA-C

Physician Assistant

Lisa Sheehan is a Certified Physician Assistant who received her Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology with a minor in Biology from Stony Brook University in Long Island, NY. This was followed by graduating Magna Cum Laude from King’s College with a Masters of Science degree in Physician Assistant Studies. After graduation, Lisa completed a two-year Dermatology Fellowship through the Institute of Family Health in Kingston, NY.

At our practice she will be offering consultations for all general dermatology concerns, including but not limited to acne, rosacea, eczema, medical disorders of hair & nails, as well early detection of skin cancer and Skin Cancer Screenings.

Lisa is a member of the Society of Dermatology Physician Assistants and American Academy of Physician Assistants.

VICTORIA D'ALESSANDRO, PA-C

Physician Assistant

Victoria is a board-certified Physician Assistant through the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA). She earned her bachelor’s degree in Biology with a minor in Chemistry from Drew University, followed by a Master’s degree in Biology from the University of Saint Joseph. She later completed her Master’s in Physician Assistant Studies at Emory & Henry University.

Victoria’s passion for dermatology began during her nearly three years of experience in the field prior to attending PA school. She is a diplomate fellow member of the Society of Dermatology Physician Associates (SDPA) and an active member of the American Academy of Physician Associates (AAPA) as well as the Connecticut Dermatology NP and PA Organization.

Victoria is proud to be part of the FVDS team, where she is dedicated to delivering high-quality care and making a meaningful difference in the lives of her patients. She treats patients of all ages and addresses a full range of general dermatologic concerns.

LAURA TYLER, APRN, FNP-C

Aesthetic Nurse Practitioner

Laura Tyler is a certified Family Nurse Practitioner who earned her Master of Science in Nursing from the University of St. Joseph. With a deep passion for aesthetics and skin health, she combines advanced training, clinical expertise, and a warm, personalized approach to every patient interaction.

She specializes in neurotoxins, dermal fillers, biostimulators, PRP/PRF, microneedling, medical weight loss, a wide variety of lasers, skincare, and cosmetic dermatology. Dedicated to patient satisfaction, Laura takes pride in creating individualized treatment plans that not only achieve aesthetic goals but also promote skin rejuvenation, support anti-aging, and enhance overall confidence.

RAICHEL TOPALE, NP

Raichel Topale, NP, is an experienced board-certified Nurse Practitioner who enjoys providing comprehensive medical, surgical and cosmetic dermatology services with special interests in skin cancer surveillance and management as well as various laser treatments. She has been working in dermatology since December 2020, and she is dedicated to treating each patient with genuine expertise and compassion, whether it’s managing chronic conditions or guiding patients through aesthetic treatments. She received a Bachelor of Science in Human Physiology from Boston University followed by a Master of Science in Nursing and a Doctor of Nursing Practice from Simmons University. Outside of clinic, she teaches a biopsy and suturing course for master’s students and stays up to date by attending conferences. She is certified in Medical Aesthetics Injectables from the National Laser Institute. She lives with her husband, Andrew, and their two cats, Rocky and Pearl.

SARAH MASCOLO, PA-C

Physician Assistant

Sarah Mascolo is a board-certified Physician Assistant through the National Commission
on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA).

She earned her Bachelor of Science degree
in Biomedical Engineering with a minor in Materials Science and Engineering from the
University of Connecticut, where she was an Honors Scholar. Sarah went on to complete her
Master of Science degree in Physician Assistant Studies at Stony Brook University’s School of
Health Professions, where she was inducted into the Alpha Eta National Honor Society.

At our practice, Sarah provides comprehensive care for a wide range of dermatologic
conditions, including but not limited to skin cancer screenings, acne, eczema, psoriasis, and
rosacea. She is committed to delivering thorough, patient-centered care, with an emphasis on
education, prevention, and individualized treatment plans.

Sarah is an active member of the Society of Dermatology Physician Assistants (SDPA), the
American Academy of Physician Associates (AAPA), and the Connecticut Dermatology NP and
PA Organization

MARIA COSIMINI, DNP, FNP-BC

Family Nurse Practitioner

Maria Cosimini, DNP, FNP-BC is a board-certified Family Nurse Practitioner specializing in medical dermatology. She is passionate about the diagnosis and treatment of a wide range of skin conditions, including but not limited to eczema, psoriasis, skin cancer and acne, and is committed to providing patient-centered care.

Maria earned her Bachelor of Science in Biology from the College of the Holy Cross and her Doctor of Nursing Practice from the University of Massachusetts Medical School’s Graduate School of Nursing. Prior to becoming a Nurse Practitioner, she worked as a Registered Nurse in inpatient oncology and in clinical research within the allergy department at Massachusetts General Hospital, where she developed a deep appreciation for compassionate, evidence-based care.

She is an active member of the Connecticut Dermatology NP/PA Organization and remains dedicated to ongoing professional development. Maria values building long-term relationships with her patients and strives to help them feel confident and informed throughout their treatment journey.
